Prayer Book
Does anyone know where I can find the poetry book ” An American Prayer” written by Jim Morrison? 1970 edition.
For a long time now i have been looking for An American Prayer written by Jim Morrison, I am only looking for the one which was privately published by Jim himself, in 1970. It is very small and resembles a prayer book. Jim Morrison is my god, and as I am a poet as well, having a copy of this book would be amazing.

I am sorry but the chances of obtaining this book are very slim. Since a limited amount of these have been printed (said to be around 500), and since Jim has died the prices for these are extremely high. For an authentic, non-signed copy it is estimated that you would pay about $2500 to $4000. For an autographed quality you would have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars (about ten years ago someone bought one for about $140,000. There was once a re-print of the American Prayer booklet, but it was censored and about $400. Still I see where you are coming from, I have dreamed of owning one of these forever, and have been looking forever too. These books are hard to find but if you are lucky you may find one come up on eBay, or you can check: www.doors.com (at the website they have rare Doors memorabilia for sale, look often because they sell and receive things quickly) I have read a couple of stories about people finding these originals in used bookstores and yard sales but the likely hood of this happening is very very slim. I am sorry that I could not be more help, I have been looking for one of these forever, even if I did find one there is no way I could pay for it. Keep looking though, maybe one day you will find one.

Thank you LA Woman for the price correction on the re-print copy. I was referencing something else which I failed to mention. The re-print I was speaking of was made to look exactly like Jim’s original American Prayer, with the red leather like cover and gold lettering. I didn’t even know they made one like it the link you added, better go look for that
