The Water In Bible Versus Quran (1)

The Water in Bible versus Quran (1)

The exact translation of the Hebrew verse, Proverbs 9:17, is:

“Stolen waters are sweet, and hidden bread is delicious”

Herein, you will see how different five Bible’s versions translate this simple statement.

As a matter of fact, I could not find any comment(s) about this verse that may encourage stealing of water.

In addition, I do not believe that the Lord God said that the “stolen waters are sweet”.

Does the Lord God encourage stealing that He forbids in His Ten Commandments?

On the other hand, Mike Scott*, the minister, says: in his article, “What is the symbolism of water in the bible?”

“The Koran states, “From water we have made all things.” Water seems to play an elemental part in Islam. I should remind you that the Koran was written some 600 years after the writing of the Old and New Testaments, and is largely an answer to Christianity; therefore, we would expect to see a lot of similarity in the teaching of the Koran with regard to water.”

N.B. Mike Scott*, the minister is:

1) The Pulpit minister in Texas, Colorado, California and Arizona

2) The Pulpit minister for the Mt. Vernon Church in Prescott, Arizona, and

3) The commentator on the Television Program “What Do the Scriptures Say?”

Now, let us see if Mike’ statement about the Quran is true and valid.

Verse 21:30 of the Quran, says:

Have not those who disbelieve in Allah, Muhammad and the Quran known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, were aligned with each other then Allah has parted them and separated them from each other. Also, have not they known that Allah made every living thing of water?

Will they not then believe by affirming Allah’s Oneness and Muhammad Prophethood?

Now, you smart reader see the similarity in the teaching of the Koran with regard to water that is claimed by Mike Scott.

Nevertheless, we will talk later about the relation between the verse 21:30 of the Quran and 1) the water in Biological sciences and 2) the recent cosmological theory of Big Bang and the subsequent development of the Universe.

The Quran, Verse 21:30 (four different translations)

QARIB: have the unbelievers not seen that the heavens and the earth were sewn up as one (solid) mass, then we unstitched them, and that we made every living thing of water? will they not believe!

SHAKIR: do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the earth were closed up, but we have opened them; and we have made of water everything living, will they not then believe?

PICKTHAL: have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then we parted them, and we made every living thing of water? will they not then believe?

YUSUFALI: do not the unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? we made from water every living thing. will they not then believe?

Back to my question to the smart and interested reader:

Are the Scholars truthful when they claim that the Quran quoted from the Bible?
